Millicent Nankivell (Millie if you must, but I do prefer Millicent). That’s my name. Yes it’s my real name.
I’m an Australian, glitter-loving, Jesus-freak, tea-drinking, author, artist and photographer with arguably way too much time on my hands (yet it still feels like it’s never enough)!
Dominantly I love to write speculative fiction for young adults. If you don’t know what speculative fiction is, the best way I can think to briefly describe it, is as the freaky love-child of fantasy, science fiction, and horror. Basically, I like to speculate, and then create stories about my speculations!
As a child, I hated reading. My mother didn’t despair too much, as she’s not much of a reader herself. My father however was greatly disappointed by this development. Retrospectively, I am too. Turns out it was simply the material they were trying to engage me with. Having a book to read with characters you can love and connect to makes such a world of difference.
It was due to this though, that probably just before I stumbled upon the Trixie Beldon series, I started writing my own stories so that I had a fictional world I could engage in and enjoy — not to mention create my own fanart!
After years of battling with myself, I finally self-published my first novel — The Last King, and put myself out there as an artist and photographer for hire. Putting yourself out there like that can be one of the scariest things ever!
I’m a strong believer in the immense power of femininity that God graced women with, a hopeless romantic, and a borderline introvert/extrovert.
My primary goal in blogging is to inspire positive creativity ★
