Today I had some help from some friends — we went to shoot photos in the hope that I would be able to get some material to use for advertising my book The Last King, and its sequel that will be out soon: The Gem of Orithian. Thanks friends who wish to remain nameless ♥ I really appreciate your help, even though none of us knew what we were doing! Haha!
I’ve been feeling really quite stressed about the situation with my books, because frankly, I suck at marketing, and when people ask me what my book is about, my mind goes completely blank. I also don’t have the greatest faith in my writing … I just remind myself regularly that if Stephenie Meyer can make it big with her Twilight series, then anyone with a story to tell has a chance (no offence Ms. Meyer, you wrote a story that clearly engaged a huge audience — kudos for that)! I know things like sales will improve when I have released more books, but that doesn’t make me feel any better about right now. I have made considerable headway with my writing already though for 2018 so far — let’s just hope I can keep it up!
I guess at the end of the day, I need to remind myself that as long as I’m working hard and doing the best that I can, there’s really nothing else I can do about my situation — I just have to keep trusting that God has His hand on things and as long as I stand by Him, He’ll stand by me.
And frankly, putting yourself out there like this … self-publishing … while I would recommend it to aspiring authors, it is terrifying. It takes courage, and I didn’t know that I had this in me at all.
If you haven’t yet purchased a copy of The Last King and would like to help an indie author out, you can purchase yourself a digital copy for either Kindle, Kobo, or Nook, but you can also get a print on demand copy through Amazon. Regardless, if you have read it, please be sure to leave reviews — I appreciate feedback ♥
